I've had it happen, years ago with a Davis .32. Very cheap gun, I habitually carried it with a round in the chamber took it off one night laid in on the coffee table and BOOM. I'd carried it so long the ledge that holds the firing pin back had wore though. Never trusted it, bryco or jennings firearms again. Unsafe pieces of crap.

The only pistol to have a hammer block and no firing pin stop is wheel guns that have the firing pin attached to the hammer.

Safety starts with that thing between your ears
There is something about firing 4,200 thirty millimeter rounds/min that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

With the old Davis automatics "Jennings and later Bryco were essentially the same company and design" The firing pin was at full cock when a round was chambered, held back by a catch. The safety only locked the trigger which would lower the catch when pulled. "Think crossbow" In my case the ledge on the firing pin which the catch used to hold it back wore away, so with a bit of a jar when it hit the table it gave away, the firing pin went forwards and BOOM.
I'll repeat, Unsafe pieces of crap.
