    Officer Involved Shooting

Suspect continues recovery after being shot by police
    October 21, 2009 @ 12:00 AM

    The Herald-Dispatch

HUNTINGTON -- Walter Thomas Wilson continued his recovery Tuesday, one day after shot by an officer from the Huntington Police Department.

Wilson, 29, was charged with wanton endangerment and obstruction. He was listed in fair condition Tuesday at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Patrolman Richard Kern fired at the suspect he ran from the officer, pulled his weapon and attempted to draw.

The shooting occurred about 12:20 a.m. Monday at the Speedway gasoline station, located at 6th Avenue and Hal Greer Boulevard.

Kern had stopped for a coffee break when a customer alerted him to suspicious activity.

This wasn't reported online until today. Really bad reporting, the wording of this isn't very clear. The Speedway mart in this article has been the scene of another shooting a year ago when another young man drew and fired on Marshall University police officers and they returned fire. When Huntington PD showed with SWAT the suspect had taken cover behind a dumpster, but had been morally wounded by MU PD. Of course the PD was to blame for killing an "innocent" man. No surprises here, this corner is a haven for drugs and other crime activity.

I don't see how you can pull your weapon but attempt to draw, you either did it or you were attempting to,you can't do both

thats the uneducated media for you
he probably drew but didn't actually point it at the officer or was pulling on a gun in a holster attempting to draw or something easy like that, but the media couldn't articulate it properly as usual

If loose gun laws are good for criminals why do criminals support gun control?
