It is very possible that our once great nation will fall into anarchy and loss of rule of law. If that happens we will have to tend to these problems ourselves. I thank God this was not daughter or granddaughter that was gang raped, I am old enough to die in prison or in a battle with one or more of them. Every swing one of them is old enough to pay the full price. enough said

Hang those who raped her let all the other rapists see them hang. Everyone else should be charged with failure to help a bystander. Depending on what the charge is (which is clearly rape) this charge can be brought to the watching crowd.

I overheard some people talking about this incident and they said the administrators are responsible for the gang rape because they didn't provide enough security at the dance.
I said the blame lies with the rapists and the do-nothings who stood around filming it on their cell phones.
Sometimes on a clear day, I can see into the future with this spotting scope.

On a news shows I watched one of the victim's friends was interviewed. She of course was placing great blame on the school's lack of security. So typical of the mindset among many these days.

[Some people] said the administrators are responsible for the gang rape because they didn't provide enough security at the dance.

The mindset, here, is key, yes.
Now, before I say this, please understand that I am in no way suggesting the person wanted it, begged for it, did specific things to seem available/willing or any such thing. What was forced on her was criminal in the extreme, and obviously a grave assault of that magnitude was not "asked for" in any way.
But, per the type of logic that Gavin de Becker speaks of, in his book The Gift of Fear, much of life is made of up the minor little signals we give off, sense in others, and then either pick up or discard. Good situational awareness and circumspection is about identifying such signals and listening to the gut instinct, the little hairs rising up on the neck, that niggling little feeling that ...
If we could isolate the specific factors that lead up to the crimes, I wonder whether there were some signals earlier on that could have been suggestive of such a crime about to occur. Some increased tension, some things that were overheard, the mere fact more than a couple folks were gathering together in a tight group, whatever.
I wonder if a person were to go through the Gift Of Fear evaluation, whether those signals could be identified and things could be learned. There simply had to be something that a perceptive person could have been attuned to sense, at least to the point where the hairs start to stand up on-end.
I mean, these criminal perpetrators were teen males, for crying out loud. Generally speaking, they aren't the most-subtle animals around. About as subtle as a freight train at 2am from 10ft away, mostly. They must have been oozing signals for those who were actively trying to be situationally aware and watching for such things. I wonder if it could be sensed, if we were able to dissect the circumstances sufficiently well.
