One down, one to go. Now if the citizen or store owner would have been armed, the Buffalo area could have been two dirtbags 'lighter'.

    Commitment vs. Unsure = Domination!

That took some guts, but as you can see, disarming someone is not impossible.

Once he grabbed the barrel, it looked like he pussyfooted around without a clear plan of how to use leverage to break the thugs finger and remove the shotgun from his grasp. However, just having the guts and determination in this case saved the day. He also received help from the clerk and other customers which you certainly can not count on!

Good job for the Vet! Again, that took some guts!

That guy (GG) was sure calm and cool.
It worked out for everyone because apparently the BG was a bit of a novice.
A different kind of BG would likely have shot the Vietnam Vet as soon as he approached. It's great that it all turned out the way it did.

I concur, a person with the right or should I say wrong intent and proper motivation would have fired into the vet...I am just glad that none of the "good guys" were harmed.

Just wanted to add, seems the BG's barrel length played a major role in this outcome.

The GG followed almost every principal from learned Jeff Cooper in the act of self-defense. He was alert, decisive, aggressive, reacted fast, cool, ruthless in that he was committed from the very start and used surprise. He was not lucky, he made his own luck thru his own actions.

I wonder if the shotgun was loaded? They could have just racked it to make the noise thinking that is all they needed. I agree it took some balls to try that. Nice one for the GG!

BG was lucky. If a DCDC member had been in the store, he likely wouldn't have seen the next sunrise.

The Vet's action were great, grabbing the barrel of the shotgun and gaining control of the situation was instinctive and very brave.
