What I'd really like to know is why the Army didn't do anything when Hasan delivered an hour-long PowerPoint lecture to an audience of doctors at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, arguing that non-Muslims should be beheaded and have burning oil poured down their throats.

I'm more interested in knowing why the Army ignored the fact that Hasan tried to contact al-Qaida, and at least one U.S. intelligence official says the Army knew it.

I think there are more important issues than who shot Hasan.... the black male cop or the white female cop.
Patti, Must be I've been a little behind in the news. Where did you get that info? Do you have any links?

I agree it's hard to believe they could miss so many opportunities to stop him and yet here we are.

    Hasan on Islam - washingtonpost.com

Fort Hood gunman Nidal Malik Hasan warned of potential inside attacks by Muslims in U.S. Army

    http://dailyme.com/story/20091110000...ues-hasan.html

That's just a few. But there are many more.

Colleagues at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where Hasan, a psychiatrist, was posted until his transfer this summer to Texas' Fort Hood, reportedly say that he delivered a bizarre religious lecture proclaiming "infidels" would be tortured for their lack of faith. Other doctors say they felt afraid to complain for fear of looking as if they were picking on a Muslim colleague.

Exclamation UPDATE: Insanity defense likely to be sought by shooter

Article -- Newsday, 11-23-2009, Insanity Defense.

Atty: Fort Hood suspect may use insanity defense

November 24, 2009 By The Associated Press ANGELA K. BROWN (Associated Press Writer)

FORT WORTH, Texas - FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — An Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people during an attack on his Texas post will likely plead not guilty to the charges against him and may use an insanity defense at his military trial, his attorney said Monday.

John Galligan, the civilian attorney for Maj. Nidal Hasan, said he is considering an insanity defense among other options, but that it's too early to determine his defense strategy.

"Based on the evidence thus far, his mental status must be raised," Galligan told The Associated Press by phone from his office near Fort Hood, about 130 miles southwest of Dallas. "Anybody who allegedly engages in conduct that is completely contradictory to his lifestyle and military career — an insanity defense has to be considered."

Hasan has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder in the Nov. 5 shooting at Fort Hood, and military officials have said they may file more charges. More than two dozen others were wounded in the shooting spree, which happened at a building where soldiers finalize their wills and are medically screened before they are deployed.

Galligan said military law requires his client to plead not guilty if prosecutors seek the death penalty, but he said that decision has not been made.

Hasan remains in intensive care at a San Antonio military hospital, where he was taken after being shot during the attack. At a hearing in his hospital room Saturday, Hasan was ordered to remain in custody until trial.

Galligan said he is frustrated because prosecutors are taking too long to respond to his questions and requests. He said he has asked why no witnesses were allowed to testify during Saturday's hearing, and why it was closed to the news media. He said he had planned to question Hasan's commander, who in documents indicated Hasan would be moved to an unspecified hospital but did not say when.

Fort Hood officials did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

He will not be found to be insane, and will be found guilty and get the death penalty, which I am normally opposed to but, in cases similar to this am perfectly fine with.

Too bad he will just go to sleep when they administer it.

Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

IMO, we are all victims of our own society and we will continue to be until something is done to curve the belief, that all profiling is unjust and biased. For so long now we have all been over sensitized to the rights and wrongs of profiling. We have been taught and scorned for any attempt to profile any person, or people due to their race, gender, ethnic and religious beliefs, or backgrounds. I would add, that to a degree it's a good practice, but one that has gone to far in the opposite direction. It's MO that, that is now being used against us with a vengeance.

As long as we keep looking in the other direction because we don't want to be accused of profiling this kinda stuff will continue to happen. I'm only speaking in the strictest terms of profiling as it relates to the security of the United States and it's citizens. Some are gonna go nuts over this, but I'm a realest and I know for a fact, that this could've been prevented by his pears and superiors if someone in the chain of command would have done something instead of being worried that they would catch some grief for making what seemed to be a very correct assumption. For those who would want to set me straight, tell it to the victims families. I'd take the grief any day of the week and twice on sunday, if it would've save the victims. In closing, I'd say. To bad the maggot didn't either eat a bullet, or catch one in the forehead. I could pull the trigger on the dirtbag and sleep like a lamb.

I think it's time to end the Bill Clinton Military Base Gun Ban.

Among President Clinton’s first acts upon taking office in 1993 was to disarm U.S. soldiers on military bases. In March 1993, the Army imposed regulations forbidding military personnel from carrying their personal firearms and making it almost impossible for commanders to issue firearms to soldiers in the U.S. for personal protection. For the most part, only military police regularly carry firearms on base, and their presence is stretched thin by high demand for MPs in war zones.

Because of Mr. Clinton, terrorists would face more return fire if they attacked a Texas Wal-Mart than the gunman faced at Fort Hood, home of the heavily armed and feared 1st Cavalry Division. That’s why a civilian policewoman from off base was the one whose marksmanship ended Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan’s rampage.

Everyone wants to keep people safe – and no one denies Mr. Clinton’s good intentions. The problem is that law-abiding good citizens, not criminals, are the ones who obey those laws. Bans end up disarming potential victims and not criminals. Rather than making places safe for victims, we unintentionally make them safe for the criminal – or in this case, the terrorist.

The wife of one of the soldiers shot at Fort Hood understands all too well. In an interview on CNN Monday night, Anchor John Roberts asked Mandy Foster how she felt about her husband’s upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. Ms. Foster responded: “At least he’s safe there and he can fire back, right?”

Keith Obermann of MSNBC thinks this is impossible, because everyone on a military base is armed.
Maybe that's why no one watches MSNBC.
