    Victim takes gun, shoots suspect

Suspect shot by victim with own gun | 6abc.com - 11/09/09 - New York News and Tri-State News - 7online.com

NEW CASTLE, Del.. - November 9, 2009 -- A man turned the tables on an armed, would-be robber Sunday night in New Castle, Delaware.

Police say a 21-year-old man was walking on West Avenue when he was approached by 17-year-old Diamere Brady of Wilmington. Brady had a gun, police say, and he tried to rob the 21-year-old.

However, the victim was able to get the gun away, and shot Brady twice in the torso.

Following, the incident, police say, the victim called officers and turned over the gun. Meanwhile, police said Brady called 911 to report he had been shot.

Brady was taken to Christiana Hospital where he underwent surgery.

He was charged with robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

No charges have been filed against the 21-year-old.

Great story, what was the BG trying to accomplish by calling 911? Get his liffe saved, or get the victim in trouble?

He's a stupid kid in it for himself. I'm sure he thought he was gonna die and called 911 to live. I hope he gets nailed by the courts.

I sure like to hear stories like this one. Not because I like the kid getting shot, but because I like to hear that the person defending himself isn't facing charges or going to have to jump through hoops to defend himself from lawful actions.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

This is something i've learned since being a member. Be the first to call 911. That is one of the main reasons I make sure I carry my phone when I wear my firearm.

Another dirtbag with a half a brain, and now he deserves a long prison sentence.

The only thing better would be if the perp had been sent to that "prison of no parole".

The fighting back attitude and maybe his fast action carried the day. Good for the 21 year old and off to prison for the robber.

I hope this turns around Diamere's life and wakes up some of his friends. May be something else good can come of this besides the satisfaction of seeing someone successfully defend themselves.

The only trouble is, you and I get to pay for Diamere's surgery and hospital care, further increasing hospital costs. Then there's the cost of his trial and incarceration. To bad the victim wasn't a better shot.

Another good story with a happy ending. My son turns 4 today. I might read this one as his bedtime story..."Once upon a time...."
I must have more 1911's. Someone donate me a Springfield EMP.
