2 charged with stabbing South Austin Walmart employee
An Austin Walmart employee was seriously injured when police say he tried to stop a robbery.
The incident happened on Thursday evening at the Walmart, in the Southpark Meadows area off I-35 and Slaughter Lane.
According to an arrest affidavit, two Walmart employees, Gilbert Delacruz and Chris Legg, saw Shawn Adam Harvey (pictures left) put on Walmart clothes and begin to walk out the door. He was with another man, Jeffrey Dean Daulton (pictured right).
Harvey and Daulton attacked the two employees when they tried to stop them, the affidavit said.
It says Daulton pulled a knife and stabbed Legg in head, arm and abdomen then they ran from the store.
Legg and Delacruz caught them after a brief chase.
Harvey and Daulton are charged with Aggravated Robbery, a first degree felony
I know the father and mother of the young man that was stabbed. The whole thing happened over a $10.30 item. The stabbed victum in recovering at home and doing well. This is a good example of why very many businesses have a specific and strict employee policy of do not attempt in any manner to apprehend or even impede the actions of shoplifters.
The human cost is far greater than that of material goods.
In this case $10.30 worth of nothing, that is wholly insured and easily replaced.
Now Wal-Mart is out much larger monies for coverage of his health and medical bills, a workmans compensation claim, time off from work and having to replace that worker with some other person and/or extend overtime pay to other workers plural as fill in.
All over $10.30.
Think it through people.

Couple of young fellows like that should make a lot nice friends in prison.
Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around laws. Plato

LOL... their new names will be Suzy and Sally in prison.
What idiots. Walmart does allow employees to carry if they get approval first to do so. Walmart doesn't just want any employee carrying a gun. Too bad this guy wasn't one of them.
However, they do remind me of the two scouting out people in the Walmart parking lot when I left one night, and they walked out of their way to be face to face with me, one of them 'bumping' me.... then the other saying "Let's get him", and the 2nd saying "NO, I think he's armed" ... and they quickly walked off.
Walmart parking lots... home of the robbers and misfits.
