No-contest plea in shot toward wife

KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) -- A central Nebraska man accused of firing a gun toward his wife faces up to five years in prison after pleading no contest to one count of felony terroristic threats.

Randy Miller Jr. of Ravenna confronted his wife as she was gathering some belongings while moving out of their house in August. Miller held a .22-caliber pistol to his head, then pointed it at his wife.

He told his wife to get out of the house, then fired a shot into the wall, about 2 feet from his wife.

The 27-year-old Miller appeared in Buffalo County District Court this week. A count of using a weapon to commit a felony was dismissed in exchange for his plea.

Emotions run extremely high when a couple is splitting up.

I believe this is the most dangerous time when one person is packing up to leave.

I sure wish the prosecutors would call stuff like this what it is, assault, and skip the theatric "terroristic threat" stuff.

The term terroristic threat really conveys a completely different meaning.

Does the Kearney Nebraska prosecutor run around "bragin" about how many terrorists he caught? Of course not.

"felony terroristic threat?" I don't think that this crime fits the definition of "terror." Is not like he did this in a crowded shopping mall.

    Regardless, this dude screwed up.

I remember when my ex moved out.Her best friend came over that night and "consoled" me.That must be the cure for domestic problems because I never thought about threatening my ex in any way.I hope my ex appreciates what a friend that she was to do that for her. What a pal.

Pretty dumb, maybe he'll now be asking her to stay and watch the place while he's gone for a few years.

Makes me wonder what happened previously to make her walk out if he would go this far?

Actually, the crime of "terrorizing threats" has been around a lot longer before we were ever attacked by "terrorists".

Firing a gun two feet from your estranged wife's head meets the definition of "terrorizing threat".

It has nothing to do with islamic fascism, radical muslim extremists, or the 9/11 hijackers.

To compare the two is just down-right ignorant.
