*edit. I just learned that he also has a 4 or 5 year old child as well and the suspected shooter was caught lastnight about a mile from my house on the interstate. i was at the store at the bottom of the on ramp when they caught him. The shooters brother was with him and is also a police officer

it's a great loss and the over all atmosphere of the school today is gloomy. He was a really great guy. The criminal justice department head was outside earlier and I went and talked with him. He said the officer was a buddy of his and he was pretty upset. It's so sad

The perp is a pharmacist. The perp and his brother have been arrested.
Johnson reportedly fled the crime scene ditching a car in Inglenook. Some hours later he was in custody, along with his brother, Trussville police officer Bill Johnson. The pair were reportedly picked up while on their way back to Pelham so the suspect could turn himself in.
