Unhappy 20th Anniversary of the Montreal Massacre.

Twenty years ago yesterday, a very angry Marc Lepine walked into L'Ecole Polytehnique in Montreal with his Mini 14 and opened fire. He killed 14 young women and injured 13 others.

CBC News - Montreal - Montreal Massacre events mark 1989 shootings

This lead to our Federal firearms registry, magazine restrictions, and the banning of certain classes of firearms.

It should be noted that the Mini 14 retains it's status as a non restricted firearm, and that the ruling Conservative Party has begun dismantling the Federal Registry.

Having said that, RIP ladies, twenty years later.

And then, as I recall, the Dunblane Massacre in Scotland resulted in much tough gun control in that country too. I have to cringe each time some nut case in this country pulls a similar act and dominates the media for weeks.
