Robber gets money and shoots clerk on the way out.

Becoming more common. The armed holdup man shooting the victim after he has the money. However, in this case, the second clerk was not a target. Judging from the surveillance photo, the second clerk got a good close look at the robber.

Teen with revolver robs store, shoots clerk

FLORISSANT — The teenage gunman who grabbed money from the cash register at a Sinclair gas station in Florissant on Wednesday night shot a store clerk on his way out, police say.

The clerk was shot in the side of his abdomen in the holdup at 8:17 p.m. Wednesday. His injuries were not life-threatening, said Florissant Police Sgt. Kevin Boschert.

The clerk was one of two clerks working at the Sinclair station, 1395 Dunn Road. A female clerk was unhurt.

The robber entered the gas station, pulled a revolver and demanded money. He grabbed cash from the register, shot the clerk, then drove off in a silver Jeep that had been parked behind the store. Witnesses told police they last saw him driving north on Washington Street. Boschert had no details on the type of Jeep.

The robber was described as a black man, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9. He was in his late teens. He had a dark complexion and a medium build. He wore dark pants, white tennis shoes, a black skull cap, white gloves and a distinctive coat, police say — it was a black coat with words St. Louis in white lettering on the sleeves, the back, the front.

“Somebody out there has to know somebody who has a coat like that,” Boschert said.

Police are planning to release photos of the robber to the media on Thursday morning.

When a person comes at you with a weapon and demands your or the stores money etc. there is nothing to stop them from pulling the trigger.

When you fight to protect your personal wallet or store cash register you also fight to protect your life and or fellow employees lives or family member who may be present at the time.

Same thing happened in Owensboro KY three weeks ago. The security camera filmed the whole murder.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DAVIESS CO., KY - A convenience store clerk was shot to death and authorities have arrested the suspect.

Tips led police to a Newburg home in the Louisville area. According to police, 27-year-old Brock Hanley was staying with family in the home.

Hanley was captured at the home around 7:30 Central time Monday night after authorities looked for him all day. Authorities did say Hanley had to be tased.

Daviess County deputies are responding to Louisville to take custody of Hanley and return him to Owensboro.

At around 2:30 Monday morning, the Daviess County Sheriff's Department said an armed gunman came into a convenient store at the Shell Station off Bon Harbor Road and the bypass demanding cash.

Investigators said after he received the cash, he shot 46-year-old Suba Singh in the abdomen and launched an interstate manhunt.

"By virtue of viewing the surveillance video, which is of very good quality, indicated the individual approached the clerk, demanded money," Daviess County Sheriff Keith Cain said. "The clerk immediately produced a tray of money from the cash register. The individual took the money from the counter and shot him."

Shortly after the incident, the owner of the Shell Station was trying to figure out why his brother Suba Singh was shot after handing over the money.

"He got money and then he shoot him," store owner Jaswinder Singh said. "I don't know why he'd do that. He gave him everything."

Suba Singh was taken to Owensboro Medical Health System and soon was in surgery.

The Daviess County coroner said around 10:00 Monday morning, Singh died from a single bullet wound to the abdomen.

The sheriff said Hanley called detectives confessing to the shooting and even offered a reason why he shot the clerk.

"He did give a reason but that reason is suspect at this time," Cain said.

Now, county officials said Hanley could face 20 years to life in prison or even the death penalty if found guilty.

"The death penalty can be based upon the fact there was a death involved that occurred during the course of a robbery," Commonwealth Attorney Bruce Kuegel said.

Same thing happened in Atlanta a few days ago. I was positive that the story was going to be local when I read the subject line.

The good thing is that the owner of the store got off a few rounds at the perps after emerging from the rear of the store. One suspect wasn't able to get very far due to their injuries and was captured, but the kid clerk was DRT. The other robber remains at large.

If you work at a convenience store, you have to be armed AND in orange every second of the day. Especially true if said store is in the urban center of a large city.

Everywhere you work they teach you give the robbers what they want and they will leave. BS.
    Convenient stores, banks, etc.
How do you present this to your employers that this a reason why you should be allowed to carry? They don't always leave after getting the money.

This had to be the 1 time out of the usual 9 out of 10 times a person won't get hurt or killed for complying.

Oh yeah. Some say "Just give them what they want (car, money etc..) and don't resist - your car, money etc... isn't worth the risk.

I have to say - they have ALREADY proven themselves untrustworthy or they wouldn't be committing the crime in the first place - so - DON'T TRUST THEM TO NOT SHOOT YOU REGUARDLESS OF HOW MUCH YOU COOPERATE!

DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO TO INSURE YOUR (AND FAMILY) SAFETY!
