I tip my hat to the guy

The parking lot attendant for England 's Bristol Zoo never missed a day of work for 25 years. The parking lot that he was in charge of had the capacity of holding up to 150 cars and as many as 8 buses. The parking fees for cars is $1.40 and buses is $7 (in US dollars). One Monday the attendant just didn't show up for work. The Zoo manager called the City Council and asked to send over another employee. The City called back to inform the zoom that the position was staffed by a Bristol Zoo employee. Further checking proved that the attendant had never been on the City or Bristol Zoo payroll. An investigation was launched and it was determined that the parking lot attendant, who was described as "very pleasant" was no one's employee. The man had installed a ticket machine on his own, and during the past 25 years had showed up every day to greet people and collect the parking fees. The amount he collected was estimated to be $560 a day, which amounts to just over $7 million dollars. And no one even knew the man's name

Wow, that's amazing no one ever caught on. I guess it goes to show if you act like you should be there, you can get away with anything.

And for all you folks out there......this is your last chance to send $1 to my address!!

Heard this story years ago, supposedly in Los Angeles. Guy as a joke put ad in the paper requesting that it would be people's last chance to send a dollar to the address. He didn't promise anything in return. The story says he got over $50,000 before the IRS found out and he had to pay income taxes. Don't know how true it is, but a radio disc jockey did the same thing. Told listeners to send a dollar to the station. He got over $3,000 and the station manager had to pull the plug on it. They donated the money to a childrens charity.
