HUNTINGTON, WV -- Jason Michael Moore, 34, was in critical condition Sunday after a being shot in the chest Friday at his Huntington home.

Emergency crews responded to a reported shooting on McVeigh Avenue about 10 p.m. Friday and found Moore at the scene, a press release from the Huntington Police Department said.

Evidence from the scene indicated there was forced entry into Moore's home at 1812 McVeigh Ave., and that a struggle ensued in the home, Sgt. John Williams of the Huntington Police Department said in the release.

Moore was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition Sunday evening, a nursing supervisor said.

More information will be released after further investigation.

Not much on this yet. Don't know all the particulars and looks like a home invasion gone way wrong. This part of town though is kind of rough with lots of drug and gang activity. We'll see.

Know nothing enough about this case to make much of a commit other than home invasions or on the rise and home carry is the best deterrent.

I carry on my person pretty much 24/7,I have a disability and can't move very quick to go grab a gun,Bg's have been known to pick on the weak,I got a 45 calibre surprise just in case

I have in-laws that live in and around Huntington, none carry or even own a firearm, been trying to get them too, especially after the rise in violent crime in that area over the past year.

Just like all other options in life, we choose to develop a self-defense plan or not. If not, then those who CHOOSE not to have a SD/HD plan must suffer the consequences. I do not like to see people hurt, or worse, but when individuals deny the need for 'planning', I can only sit back and shake my head.
Hopefully, the dirtbag(s) who did this will suffer the 'ultimate' damages when they attack someone who has well-made SD/HD plans already in place.

Stories like these remind me of why I go to the trouble to be armed at home as well as when I'm out and about!
