Man says he shot, killed robber after escaping from car
A South Side man says he grabbed a gun from robbers who snatched him off the street and he killed one of them when firing off what he meant to be a warning shot.

CHICAGO
A South Side man is not expected to be charged, after fatally shooting a suspected robber in a movie-like ordeal.
He tells WGN News he was pulled off the street at gunpoint by a carload of suspects around 11pm yesterday.
He says he was then taken to a fast food restaurant in Bronzeville, where two suspects went in with his wallet and ATM pin.
But the man says a gun in the car accidentally went off, causing the driver to crash into a dumpster.
In all the confusion, the man says he was able to grab the gun and get out.
He fatally shot a 21-year-old suspect who ran after him, but says he was only trying to fire a warning shot.
The other suspects are still on the run.

Glad he got away safe. As for the BG's - that's the consequences for what they choose to do.

I'm SURE those BG's knew that handguns are not to be carried in the city.......
Glad it turned out as good as it did.

See , they need firearms training in Ill.
You never 'posed to shoot a warning shot at them!

This is good, maybe it will wake up some folks who think a gun is never useful for self defense...or who believe other anti-gun nonsense...
Anti-gunners seem to believe that if we just pass enough laws, we can have utopia. Unfortunately, utopia is NOT one of our choices.

The sheep will just say this is more proof that you should not be allowed to carry a weapon because it might be taken away and used on you. Some aclu dirt bag lawyer is already trying to figure out how the BG can sue the victim.

...and the States Attorney is figuring out how to charge the victim with a crime.

How did those guys have guns? Aren't they illegal in Chicago?

As sarcastically as I can state.....
The shooter was wrong. He took away a person's ability to ply their trade and should be arrested. He should be tried for murder by using an illegal firearm. We here in Chicago take our gun laws very, very seriously and dude....ya screwed up!
Sarcasm aside, this is typical in a gun free or restricted place. Only those who do not obey the gun laws have firearms and are more likely to want to use them than places where they can be owned and carried by law abiding folk. Gun laws only create victims, they don't reduce them.

I think the BG got the warning. Glad everything worked out for the other guy and that he is ok. I bet he starts carrying from now on. You never know when or where the wolves will appear.

Good, but the bad: never fire a "warning shot" (wth is that even supposed to be, anyway?), and then never say you didn't mean to use deadly force if you used deadly force.
At any rate, good thing, and in Chicago, I would've assumed he would've been publically strung up as a "lesson to all VIGILANTES" as well as hundreds of editorials about the brutal murder of a disadvantaged man just trying to buy some crack...

Im from chicago...
and i take these kinds of incidents very seriously. we live on the west side which is not as bad as the south side but its bad enough. what pissses me off is that ppl WILL say there needs to more gun laws or an outright ban because of incidents like this. but a gun just saved this guys life (even though it wasnt his originally). More guns in the hands of law abiding citizens would deter BGs from boldly kidnapping ppl right off the street. is this south america?
ive gotten some flack on DC for wanting to carry in this city (even though its illegal) but i would rather be alive in jail than dead on the street. at least in jail theres a chance i could come home to my family.
thats why im thankful for the great information on CONCEALED carry, available on DC. Ppl in chicago need it more than most. Please support folks in Illinois trying to make a difference in the exercising of their 2nd amendment rights.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
No matter how it sounds.
I would never intentionally admit I shot to kill, only to stop.
If it ends up being a fatal shot, then so be it.

Probably would not put it past them for a second...
