That's terrible. The article doesn't mention family of the slain officer, but prayers go out for all who knew him.

We here in Washington State know what the people of Ottawa are feeling. Our prayers go out to all.

Sad story for so many reasons, thought and prayer to both families.

Prayers to both families. This bad all the way around. We have a lot to learn about brain injuries.

What a bizarre happening and to think the suspect was a former officer. With his discharge background I smell an insanity plead coming forth. What a sad story for all directions. May the deceased officer's family have the needed support they desire and deserve. RIP
May we never forget those in uniform who protect us night and day in lands far away. And those in all wars who paid the supreme sacrifice in defense of our country. May God Bless our Troops and First Responders.

    Anyone else see this?

This is the first time an Ottawa police officer has been killed in the line of duty since October 1983 when Const. David Utman, 38, was shot during an altercation at a shopping centre.
A city of almost 1 million hasn't has an officer killed in the line of duty in over 25 years?

I guess that just makes this one all the more tragic. My prayers go out...
