Here's everything you ever wanted to know about obtaining a Florida CWFL:

Concealed Weapons or Firearm Program - Division of Licensing, FDACS

That said, your SC resident CCW license is honored here in Florida, so if you're headed this way, you're good to go.

I was reading about the PA non-resident permit. I don't have the info in front of me but it's cheaper than FL and still provides many additional states. May want to check more into PA as an option.

Just a heads up - Florida does not recognize any non-resident permit.

You can download and print the forms here: Form/Publication Request 790 - Division of Licensing, FDACS

Your application, prints and certificate of training can be mailed in.

    matt,
mailed for the forms on the 24 and maybe its just the holidays, sent for them again today..if we get a second set my wife will use it.
the othernite i was messing around and found the app on line and should of saved it or printed it out, now for some reason I can not find it any where. the form said all you would have to do is fill it out and send in copy's of your sc results with a cirtified check or money order for 117..
I also remember it saying it only takes 7-10 days for most returns.

    o-well,

Except for the FL (non-resident) issued permit...I've always found that interesting. They won't recognize other permits held by non-residents, but they give permits to those out of state and recognize them.

Call the Department of Agriculture's Division of Licensing in your area and make an appointment. After my appointment, my wife and I got our licenses in a week.

Both Florida and Utah make a whole bunch of money this way. I'm sure Florida realizes how much money they could lose if they accepted non-resident permits from other states.

question does anyone know how long of a wait it's currently taking for an out of state FL permit? I'll be be applying this month and was just curious.

--also to the OP I did get an out of state PA permit and had it in 7 or 8 days i can't remember. it was extremely fast. Just an FYI.

You'll be lucky to see it in under 90 days. Usually takes longer but some have gotten it back in about 60 days. An appointment with DOA if you're in the area gets it back to you in about a week or 2. Getting an appointment with DOA in some areas has been taking a month so they are getting backlogged also.

They recently changed the system for the better. Take the class and call the nearest Dept of Aig. and get an appointment. They do it all there: fingerprinting, photo and paperwork. The whole process is now less that 30 days.
