Looks like we win win again. The BG is dead and we do not have to pay to keep him in jail. It does not get any better than this. Good luck to the fine lady.

Perhaps this should be another thread, but I think it is important to discuss this thing (prosecution of self-defense people). I think the whole reason behind such prosecutions has to do with the overloading of the criminal justice system in large cities (true here and in England), such that if people defend themselves successfully, it appears the authorities are not all that necessary -- it is THIS the authorities want to nip in the bud. All about control.
I think a new system should be implemented, state-by-state, so that when something like this happens, the Citizen is publicly presented with an Award.
The family of the departed should also be presented with a Certificate of some type in recognition of their failure to raise a decent human being, perhaps accompanied by a crime scene photo showing the corpse with a large hole in its head.
She will be no billed by the grand jury. Kind of nuts but here in Texas every shooting, justified or not goes to a grand jury.

When it comes down to it, life's mostly made up of very simple choices. Her son has a new hero, whether he knows it yet or not. A happy mother's day present to herself: her son's life saved. Good for her.... she is home alone with her 3 year-old son. They demand valuables, she refuses ... the robbers comes toward her, she shoots him in the head.

A person is justified in the use of deadly force, if such person reasonably believes deadly force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to such person or a third person.
