Good - Texas Convictions of CHL Holders as a Percentage of Totals.
I came across these Texas conviction totals (link below) of a 12 year period, 1996 - 2007 of convictions of TX CHL holders as a percentage of total TX convictions.
I think as a group, these numbers reflect CHL holders as a pretty good group of people. No matter what large group of people you disect, there will always be a few bad apples, some groups may even contain several bushels of bad apples, whether they be realtors, plumbers, LEOs, doctors, teachers, pro athletes, bartenders, Hollywood actors, etc.
In recent years, 1 in every 1800 Texas CHL holders was convicted of a crime, and of all the 61,000 convicted felons in 2007, 2.6 tenths of 1 percent (.26%) were CHL holders, or 5 CHL holders for every 2,000 convictions. One would be hard pressed to find any other large group of people, professional, ethnic, organizational, or otherwise, that could hold a candle to these law-abiding numbers.
Note the total number of annual convictions (crime) from 1996 to 2007 almost doubled. Also CHL holders consistently getting better year by year from a 1 in 742 convictions, to as low as 1 in 2800 convictions. From the link below, you can view by year the detailed category of convictions that comprise the totals.
Just a little reinforcement to the argument that it's not the armed CHL holder that the public needs to be concerned with (odds are, they're the good guy), but rather it's the armed BG that will ignore signs & laws (that's what makes them BG's) that they need to focus their concerns & paranoia towards.

Without showing percentage of non CHL holders that were convicted from the general population the data doesn't really say what you want it to.
I tend to believe we are a trustworthy group but the data listed doesn't show we are any better than the general population.

Working with the data for the year 2007:
Conviction rate for CHL holders- 1 in 1,806.
Conviction rate for general public (less CHL holders)- 1 in 406.
It appears to me to be about 4.5 times as great in the general public.

Keep in mind that there are also so notable differences in what the convictions are for. If you go through the information carefully, you can see that quite a few convictions are for things that do not affect the non-chl holder; e.g., 51 violations; violations of 30.06. The point, if you take out of the numbers the gun specific infractions which apply only to the permitted, the percentages look even better for the CHL crowd.
