Thumbs down Bad : Pastor Pulls Firearm on Son

My guess is that he is going to get the son on the straight and narrow path, no matter what. That last beating over the head with the Bible apparently didn't work.

Pastor accused of pulling gun on son at church

ALCOA, Tenn. (AP) -- The son of a well-known Alcoa pastor has taken out an order of protection against his father, claiming he was threatened with a gun during an argument at a church over his lack of church attendance. The order of protection was filed by 32-year-old Michael Louis Colquitt against 60-year-old Joe Colquitt, pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

The younger man told police his father pulled out a handgun when they met at the church to discuss church attendance. He told officers his father pointed the gun at him and threatened to kill him, his wife and family.

Joe Colquitt declined to comment when contacted by The Daily Times of Maryville.

A Feb. 4 hearing was set in Blount County General Sessions Court.

Or, the son got angry and made this up?

If what has been reported is true, that's pretty bad. Threatening death on someone for failure to attend. Of course, we're only getting one side of the story, at this point. Who knows what really was said and done, in that meeting, or whether the altercation was elsewhere, or whether the altercation claim is a ruse designed to make it nasty for the other party for awhile. Could be anything. I mean, little Johnnie's not goin' to church lately, so it could be anything.

All sorts of claims are made, just to get the other party into hot water. For example, jilted lovers do it all the time, with claims of rape, assault, child molestation.

My father past away 11 years ago. He always told me "I bought you into this world, I can take you out of it". I never gave him any problems.

The man is 32 years old. I think he can decide for himself how much church he needs.

I wont be thinking of going to church again, my pastor might want to shoot me for not going in over 10 years :(

Honestly if it happened that is a bad way to lead your flock back, and I agree the son is old enough to make his own decissions on how much church he would like to attend.
