Poll: Better, Worse, or About the Same?

Question: Within 100mi of where you live with respect to crime, do things seem to be getting better, worse or staying about the same?

There are a lot of shootings, stabbings and other attempts to erase lives going on, these days: Shootings, google search.

In just the past week or so, there are dozens, such as in: Dallas TX, Oakland CA, Duluth MN, New York City, Mattawa WA, Madison WI, Indianapolis IN, Brooklyn NY, Jacksonville FL, Osceola FL, Niles MI, Towson MD, Waggaman LA, Atlanta GA, Covington GA, Gresham OR, at the Pentagon, and on ... and on.

Any violent attacks near you, in the past week or two? Any near misses?

In Florida, dirtbags seem to be having their own 'Crime Olympics'...stores robbed, individuals robbed, home invasions (drug related), rapes, and a variety of other activities of thievery and perversion. It is not a world to be carelessly wandering within...dirtbags abound and seem to be plundering at will.
I could print a list of the tri-county area crime pages, but the forum would 'clog, overload, crash, and burn'...

    Stay armed...stay very alert...stay safe!

    But ccw9mm, thanks for asking!

Just up the road here in Ga. (and NE Fl....ie. Jacksonville) things are certinally getting worse. It's the violent stuff that seems to be on the rise.

Just to piggy back on my above post...
I'm not saying we have a drug problem in our area, but here's the latest pic I took of the drug house down the street getting their weekly shipment...

The attached link to crime statistics is fairly accurate. I would look at the Metro statistics. City Crime Rankings by Population Group

I live well outside of Charlotte, but hear the news about what is going on there plenty. Seems to be with the economy and what not, that crime is worse in certain parts of town. I needed an excuse to buy up a few mags for my 1911 anyways...

Last year 12 LEO's lost their lives in this area, Im hearing more about home break-ins, robberies and shootings, and this is the worst part, I live on Ft Lewis and work for the Provost Marshals Office, the information I have available to me about what happens on post by the soldiers is scary. I do CC, but I un-holster and un-load prior to entering post, as soon as I get home I load and holster up again, pretty bad, huh

We are seeing more violent crimes begin to happen in very nice neighborhoods. Stuff happening during the middle of the day in fairly well populated locations. A robbery at bank drive through, a woman being beaten up for her jewelry in the parking lot of a grocery store etc.

That's fine, as far as it goes. Problem is, it doesn't go very far beyond the major cities. And, as we know, crime can be fairly fast moving, and it can target certain areas. For example, while overall crime in Portland might be down, at the same time the south/southeast area might be spiking over the past several years. Stats hide that sort of thing. Of course, this poll isn't exactly scientific or rigorous, in that regard.

I voted about the same although there are occasions when it seems like crime in my area is on the rise.

My particular neighborhood is not bad, but has it's moments.

A 100 mile radius cover multiple counties, states in all compass directions and would encompass nearly ten different police depts....Never mind that crime is very much regional in nature.

I live in rural W. MA, a 20m drive from the CT state line at Springfield to the far left of the state.
A 100 mile radius would extend to Boston, as to the far right of the state,by highway/interstate mileage and as the crow flies would put me out deep off shore into the Atlantic ocean. The crime situation in and around Boston is completely different than out here for a wide variety of reasons.

Such would be similar case for much of the states in the US that are at or above the 50th percentile in population.
Places among the extreme minority like Alaska and Wyoming would not be same for having low population/urbanization numbers as relative to square mile land mass.

A 100 mile radius is far too wide a scope.
A quarter of that would be more sensible a reflection and even that in many urbanized areas/states would be too wide a view.
