    Beginning to appreciate the hoodie.

I don't like hoodies. Never have. But last November I saw a camo one and bought it for hunting purposes. Recently I realized how often I have been carrying OWB and draping that camo hoodie over it. They work well for cover, can be worn in almost any weather, many people wear them, and their cheap. Too bad they look terrible and aren't very comfortable.

Wear a Crimson Tide hoody 4 months out of the year.

Hoodie wearing Hoods out & about in the hood gets my SA up. If the hoods is up & the sunglasses are on it's time.

I wear a double lined hoody working the property winter time, comfortable & warm.

Better looking than a silly vest and so much more comfy.

    Agreed.

But they can be fairly effective cover garments, all the same. Better than a vest, absolutely!

Someone needs to invent a comfortable, good-looking "hoodie" type garment. Something with better drape, that doesn't bind in the wrong places, that doesn't pill, that doesn't soak up 38 lbs of water the moment the humidity goes above 50%, and that comes in more than three colors.

There's a reason street thugs prefer them. Actually several.
    • weapons concealment
    • identity concealment (as necessary)
    • not too hard to quickly strip off (as necessary)
    • inexpensive so no great loss if you have to throw and run
    • intimidation factor (especially when hooded up)
    • front pocket for hands, whatev

I've become a huge hoodie fan since I started shaving my head. Having no hair in the winter makes a hoodie very useful, and I find them pretty comfortable. Great concealment is a bonus!

You missed the Number 1 reason. When you get locked up and in a holding cell you head does not have to touch the dirty walls or floor.

Two million gang members can't be wrong.

    But you're doing it wrong.
Ya gotta carry the gun in the pocket, no holster.

I buy my hoodies 1 size too big and they could cover a bazooka.

I wear a black GLOCK hoodie when I venture into the inner city.

    I Don't Understand

I have a snap on hood on my winter jacket but don't understand how I could use it to conceal my weapon.

Carry IN the hood? Sounds hard to get the heater out when needed.

    Help me someone....

Uh, Skye, no one is talking about using the hood to hide a weapon, they are talking about a Hoodie, ie, a pull over sweatshirt with a hood. Such as:

You can use it to hide an OWB carried pistol or even carry it in your pocket in front.
