    One of those days...

I wish I could have done today over......it was just one of those days.

A month a go I sold my Harley to buy something that the wife wouldn't worry about...I decided to buy a used Miata. So far, so good...the wife was happy, and I now had a vehicle I could ride to work on cold rainy days and the wife would still have the main car at home. Yep, so far, still good!
During the last four weeks, I had the Mazda dealership repair some things that I knew had to be done to make the old Mazda run like new.
The first two weeks in the shop I had various mechanical parts replaced, but due to wrong parts shipped...I waited.
I had the car for just a day or two and more work was needed. In the shop again for two more weeks...still a parts location problem. So far, I was able to handle the work, the bills, and the wait.
Got the car back last Monday and it needed one more thing...I'll not to bother you with the details on the mechanical problems, nor the $4800 total for all the work, but took the car in one more time and they finally got everything finished on Thursday afternoon. So far, I was a little bothered, but I was happy.

I took the rest of yesterday cleaning and waxing that beautiful car so the wife and I could go for a little celebration ride tonight...

We were in downtown Gainesville at around 7 P.M. tonight, minding our own business, stopped at a red light, enjoying the night air and a little Miata that was purrrring like a new kitten.

BAM...I was rear-ended by a young 20 year old girl who said that she just looked down for a minute and didn't see me.
She got a careless driving ticket, and I got my car towed back up to the dealership for 'new repairs'. The wife has a sore neck and I am, well, . OK, I'm feeling better now...llife goes on!

    Thanks for letting me vent.

That's rough Ret. Glad you and the Missus are okay. Hope no one has any lasting injuries.

My condolences on the wound neck and the wounded Miata.

I dunno about you Retsupt99, but, every time I am in Gainseville I always think how screwed up the streets are there. I mean, not the condition, the layout. I found it very difficult to navigate in G'ville.

That's a bummer. At least you don't have to dish out for repairs this time, right?

....and now your wife can say "I told you so" one more time. I hate days like that too.

And the hits just keep on coming.... I'm glad no one was seriously injured and I hope your wife is feeling chipper again soon.

Not so sure how long it'll be until you're chipper... Sounds like a major funk mood you're in regarding the new car.

Plus, do I get a hint of "separation anxiety" over the loss of the Harley? Yeah, I thought so.

Well, buddy, the main thing is no one was seriously hurt and things can be fixed.

You still have a full summer ahead of you so, look forward to that and enjoy the sunshine!

Disagree about this being a bad thing: sure, she can say, "I told you so"... but THIS ONE can be pinned on someone else.

And by getting the new car, you protected your wife - what a good husband you are! - as she would have been badly injured had she been on the back of your Harley.

Gotta play well whichever cards you're dealt...
