Wow! Interesting...didn't look like the engine left the track.
(boscobeans...How do you find this stuff?)

Wow! I'm surprised the camera stayed in one piece!

Pretty crazy stuff there. Makes me glad we don't get too many twisters up here in MI.
Better to die on your feet, than to live on your knees.
Can you imagine what was going through the mind when the tank car came rolling up?
Awesome reminder of reality - 'tis tornado season.

Some hefty engines out there. For sure... 400,000 pounds or more of solid steel...
The little engine that couldn't.....

Trucker 2- "Explain what? I'd be in a bar by now."

I watched this on livelink about a month ago. I watched it over and over.
Been in 3 tornadoes in my life. That was 3 more than I needed. The strange things that can and will happen.
One, someone was protecting us. We were camping..... middle of the night we hear a 'freight train' coming at us (tornado). What do you do ? We dove into the back of a station wagon and ducked, as it rocked back and forth and things were smashing in to it.
All of the trees, which were a lot, were nearly all gone. The 1000 lb park picnic table by the car was gone. The 24 boat on a trailer next to us, was in the same exact spot, but had been picked up and slammed into the ground upside down.
We heard screams, etc. and went to shine lights into the lake. There were several campers out in the lake and people swimming around in the total dark. So, we lined up cars for light and started pulling people out, including small kids. Luckily , none were trapped inside the campers, but we weren't for sure until dive teams got there much later and checked them all.
When it cleared and it was 'light' out in the a.m. .... sitting next to the car was an empty styrofoam cooler still sitting there. There seemed to be a circle around the car we dove into , and anything inside that circle was fine, anything outside of it... was totally destroyed.
The hard part is..... everything is flying at you from "EVERY" direction at hyper-speeds when you are "in it".
Wow. I hope the engineer and crew were ok. That was just plain freaky.
Cool, but where's the explosion? In the movies, trains always explode when they derail.
