We used to do stupid stuff like that in college. However, the difference was that the idiot on your hood was a friend. It's a completely different scenario if the idiot is a stranger.

Looks like an attempted carjacking and the driver was trying to get away. At least that would be my story. Better yet, I was driving along and some guy trying to commit suicide jumps out in front of me and before I could stop....

Agreed, the video is certainly not showing the whole story. Possibly an insurance scam?
A "pay up or I'll call the cops and say you hit me with your car" scam?

Looks to be in Europe somewhere by the video...so law and jursiprudence is much different there. I agree, if the driver wasnt part of the prank or whatever it was it would have freaked me out too, and I probably woudl have gassed it thinking I was under attack.

Looks like an ambush to me... I couldn't convict him. Then again...that's why I'm not a lawyer or a judge...

I see two criminal acts. The jumper AND the driver who after starting to drive away continues to steer into the BG and run him over on purpose. All he had to do was cut the wheel the other way (or hammer the breaks) and the guy would have shot off the hood allowing him to escape.

He didn't HAVE to run the guy over, I think he did it on purpose. If I were a jury member I'd convict him of attempted murder.
It is surely true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Nor can you make them grateful for your efforts.

Does anyone know the entire story to this? Was it in the news? Link to actual story?

What does he have in his hand. It almost looks like a pistol. If so I would of drove over the guy too.

With the combination of that and the busted windshield, the driver may have just panicked fearing his/her life was in danger. With the obstructions of both the man and the busted windshield, the driver may not have been able to clearly see where he/she was going while he was still on the vehicle. If it was a prank, it was a stupid one to play with the way things are today. I would need more info before I would be ready to convict the driver. The video alone does not establish "beyond a reasonable doubt" to me. What it does establish to me is that this guy is a freakin' idiot.

I think the jumper put himself in that situation and suffered the consequences for it. The driver probably didn't even realize what was going on and was trying to escape.

That's what I was thinking. He's trying to make it look like he was hit with the car. The drive was just trying to make sure t wasn't a scam by following through...

Hard to say he intentionally ran over the guy. Remember, he was startled, and his vision was obstructed by both the idiot who jumped on his hood as well as a shattered windshield.

i wouldnt convict the driver unless he backed over him and ran him over again...even then i would have to really think about it...i dont know what the jumper was thinking but he deserved what he got...it looks like an attack or a staged accident to me...someone jumps on my vehicle like that they can expect much the same...that not somebody just damaging your car...its a physical attack...if you plan on waiting for them to get to the driver door the answer is...it aint gonna happen on my watch...
