evidently this guy was just roughhousing jumping on his hood (not sure he intended to break the windshield)
was the driver blowing things out of proportion by running him over?

He won't be that stupid again. What would You do if he did it to Your car ?.
I hope the driver doesn't get in any trouble and the idiot that attacked the car gets a bill for the damage to the car.
Don't do things you don't want to explain to the Paramedics!
Stupidity should be painful.
You would think the hood rider would have more aggresively tried to grab on to something.... Drunk?
A car is a lethal weapon, just like a pistol. Would you shoot someone for messing up your car?
My GLOCK goes BANG every time!
Here , what I would see come out of this....
Guy # 1 jumping on hood; criminal damage to property or vandalism charges.
Driver : assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder (if he survived it).
Maybe he overreacted but I would never convict him.
I can imagine the driver was just trying to get away--this is what I would do if I actually felt threatened, not try to run him over but get away. The car turning slightly instead of driving straight may support thats what they were trying to do.
It would suck to get slapped with a manslaughter charge for reacting like that.
I see a driver fleeing from an aggressive man. I did not see any intentional attack on the drivers part. He tried to remove himself from harms way.
I guess he could have stayed in place and waited to see what the aggressive mans next action would be.

Nope.
He deserved every bit of it.

Plus the fact there was a car behind him, so going backwards was not an option..

Pranksters frequently get bit when the victim isn't clued in on the prank.
In an ambush... get out of the kill zone!
Who the hell knows what this idiot was up to? I sure don't know. And I've seen some pretty weird stuff take place in foreign countries.
In this case, if in the drivers mind... he was truly attempting to get away from danger, he had no other direction to go except forward as there was another vehicle immediately behind him blocking any escape by going into reverse.

I don't think that the driver overreacted. Heck, the guy slid off of the hood, directly in front of the tires. I don't see how he could avoid running him over. Sure, he could have stopped the car while the moron was on the hood, but I believe that he would have adequate reason to fear an assault from this guy if he did indeed stop the car.

From the video it looked to me that the idiot jumped over the hood right into the windshield ... look where he lands ... His shoulder hits the top of the glass ... If I was jumping on a hood my arse would land on the hood and my shoulder would never touch ...
I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.
