New Daughter (In-Law)
My son in Boston got married last night! His bride is quite wonderful, and we love her dearly. They are both VERY good for each other.
They dated for three years, and their relationship survived significant family turmoil and stress. It drew them closer.
When we were in Boston two weeks ago, we suspected we might get to attend a wedding, but alas, they told us only this last week. They wanted a very small wedding with a few close friends, and no family. The family exclusion was intentional, IMO, because her parents and brother could not attend, and it was easier to have no family attend than "one side". However, we WILL get to attend the "Wedding" next summer at her parents and brother's, in France! Additionally, we'll host a party at their convenience for all of the wedding stuff one does.....
We celebrated with a Margarita and Tex-Mex last night.
We gained a daughter!

When we were in Boston last year, we took a walk thru the Boston Fens. There is a Veterans Monument there. She became very quiet and reflective, and then thanked "us" (AMERICA) for helping France through several wars and occupations. He seems her family had been persecuted during the Nazi reign.
When I told her the little I knew about my Dad's service in WWII in Europe she was clearly moved. She was becoming more special to us by the day.
