Handyman Advice Needed For Gun Safe

Ok, so this morning after work I bought a set of rope lights for my safe.
I got home and went to work routing the lights through the entire safe like I wanted from bottom to top, but now I'm stuck.
I'm to the point to where I need to mount them to the roof of the safe which is lined with a really thin, fine felt.
I thought about hot glue but read that felt absorbs it too much and doesnt deliver desired results.
I also thought about velcro but I'm pretty sure there isnt enough felt for the hooks to grab on to.
This is where your guys come in....
    All suggestions apprecited

small metal hooks stuck through the lining...does not have to be thick...just enough to pierce the liner and hang the lights...if you ever remove them they wont leave marks...

I'm drawing a blank as to the hooks you're talkin about. Got a link to a pic?

I wouldnt secure it at all to the felt. I'd make up a ledger of sorts out of a piece of 1x trim or what ever piece of wood stock I had laying around. I'd cut it to exact length and wedge it in the upper front edge of the safe out of sight. Then, I'd secure the lighting to the new surface with hooks or the little plastic clasps made specifically for securing rope lighting.

i'm gonna try to keep it real simple...this calls for some creativity...dont be insulted...just think it through...slip them through the felt and hook the rope light to them....the safe is a stationary item and the light does not have to be contacted to operate so it shouldnt take much to hold it in place...

wrap the rope lights ever 8" or so with a strip of double sided Velcro. You'll be surprised how tenacious that stuff is. My pistols all hang on the safe door in holsters using ............Velcro. None have ever fallen.

trust me, i tried.....dig cam and IPhone and neither came out worth a damn...all fuzzy and distorted and doesnt do the work i did justice.
Its a pretty crude job but the rope is mostly hidden and out of view and offers a nice soft glow that is just enough to give me ample light when prowling around at night.

I'll try to get some more pics and see if I can get something viable for posting.

    Safe-hooks.

Try drapery hooks. Available in different sizes at any big-box store. The inside surface of the door of our gun safe has several rows of them, and the wife hangs her good necklaces and other bling on them.
