Smallies are okay tablefare...but IMHO, walleye and perch are much tastier.

I had that happen once too. I still remember the frustration at being snagged quickly changing to excitement when I saw the line moving across the water. Mine ended up being a 32" northern pike.

Very nice small mouth, however.
