Racoon measures?
Garbage goes out this evening for collection tomorrow morn. But hey - I am darned sure a racoon is attacking the bin, tho thought possum a while ago.
No - too darned agile, plus pawprints and - the cheeky sucker removed the bin lid - every time
. Tears everything to shreds and big mess. Last 2 nights it has ''attacked'' the bin.
We keep the bin in corner of front porch and I know I have had a racoon under the office floor space.
I was gonna shoot the critter when I saw it under my office (not sure how it gets in under with such small space!). But thought better of that considering the smell as it rotted -
.
So - it's war!!! I have vid coverage of porch but darned if I am gonna stay up half the night to try and shoot the thing - but I do have a trap spare I got for a recalcitrant skunk year or two back - it became a road kill (
) so was not needed then!
Anyone got any good ideas? What bait for trap maybe?

Thanks Richard - sounds pretty useful.
After tomorrow morn the bin will be empty a few days (try not to put stuff out too soon) but I might well use this interim spell to get the trap out.
Could be a morning shot to awake the neighborhood after that

don't be surprised if trap is sprung, bait gone, and no racoon. Those guys are smart, if they figure out how to spring trap and not get caught they will do it every time.
