A response to that jumped into my head, but I'm sure I can't post it.
I know lots of Mormon's, and have never seen anyone take that approach.

I encounter stuff like this all the time.
I'm a Bible believing Christian Conservative who is registered as a Republican (though I am much closer to Libertarian politically).
I believe that we are all are allowed are beliefs (opinions) and that no one should be on the receiving end of violence or verbal abuse for believing differently than others.
However this being said - I believe that in almost everything there is ONE truth and it is not possible in situations where something is either A or B (God or No-God, Guns or No-Guns, etc...) for both parties to be right in their beliefs. 1+1 = 2 not 1+1 = 5 or 6 or 11.
I like to discuss many topics (Guns, Politics, Religion, etc...) with people and what amazes me is that so many people demand that their way is the only way. I find it easier to have a "I disagree with you, but agree to disagree" type of attitude.
Life is difficult enough without trying to fight over subjects where beliefs are so strongly held that one party has near-impossible chances of changing the belief of the other party.
Guns, gun rights, and things related to self-protection can be on common ground where we can share information and enjoy what we each bring to the table.
I like 1911's - how about you?

Just driving by....thought I would point out the following forum rules...
and9. We have learned from bitter experience that discussions of certain subjects (politics, religion, abortion, sexual orientation, etc) often degenerate quickly. For this reason, we prohibit these subjects in our discussions. We also discourage "caliber wars" and the virtues of "open carry" topic; strongly encouraging you to take these discussions to other forums where these topics are the focus.

You have never lived until you have almost died. For those that have fought for it, life has a special flavor the protected will never know
I would've simply replied "you first". Of course I say that from my armchair in my best Joe Montana voice.
