I have officially lost 104 pounds.
Basically I got misdiagnosed by a sorry Cardio doctor who put me on some drugs that made me become a total slug so I gained lots of weight. I went from 185 up to 320 in about 3 years.
My wife finally convinced me to go to another cardiologist who said there was nothing wrong with my heart but I needed to lose the weight or damage would eventually happen.
My Secrets for losing weight.
1. It’s all mental so any diet will work or it won’t work. It’s up to you.
2. NO extreme dieting or extreme exercise. If you start doing that your body will go into an adaptation to starvation mode extremely fast. Walk each day and hit the weights in some fashion 3 days a week.
3. Have a Re-feed day once a week so your body does not think you are trying to kill it. On my re-feed day I go up to about 3500 to 4000 cals for the day. Then it is right back to 1500 cals for the next 6 days.
4. Adapt the food you like to fit your diet. Believe it or not, I have meat, beans, and taters almost everyday.
By the way, I also have sleep apnea and most of the people on the apnea forums say it is almost impossible to lose weight if you have sleep apnea. Yeah, Right!
I hope to be one of the people that get to throw the mask away. At this time it is looking like that will happen.

Congrats, and that is excellent diet advice!
Adhering to those same principals, I can still suck weight just as well as when I was young. Although exercising isn't nearly as much fun now that everything hurts...

In the past couple years I've lost 60 pounds so I can relate. It's a great feeling. The thing I always try to stress to people is that is you want to successfully take the weight off and keep it off long term the key is to change your LIFESTYLE. Most people just decide to diet and don't exercise. Or they decide to exercise but pay no attention to what they put in their bodies. To successfully loose weight (And be healthy) you have to pay attention to all of it.

Hopefully that won't happen. I have about 30 books on dieting and I have learned a lot about the psychology of the beast. I know his tricks.
