    I had one very similar as kid. Just make sure he has a good pair of eye pro to go with it; more incase a band snaps than anything.

    just make sure he/she realizes these are just as dangerous as a firearm. I've taken squirrels with them before. Granted they were head shots, but the fact remains that with the right ammo, they can be quite deadly.

    I have a few. The tubing is the weak area. but I got 6 or so from e-bay. I also bought 1000 steel 3/8 shot to shoot it with. I love it.

    had a wrist rocket as a kid...i could thread a needle with that thing and took a running squirrel off a powerline with it...unfortunately youthful foolishness had me doing things i shouldnt with it...it was confiscated by the police and i was grounded for a rather long period of time...

    Thanks for all the great suggestions. He's too young to have something like that without our supervision.

    I was thinking of rigging up a few aluminum pie plates for targets, something that makes a lot of noise when he hits it.
