A driver in a tractor-trailer stopped to assist Franklin who appeared to be uninjured.
The driver of the tractor-trailer told the highway patrol that Franklin then walked out onto I-40 to look for his cell phone when he was struck and killed by a driver in a 1999 Ford F-150 traveling eastbound.

More proof that you can't fix stupid.
Probably was talking on his cell when he wrecked, and then got killed cause he just had to talk.I dropped my cellphone riding my bike last saturday on a 500 mile roundtrip, when I got to San Antonio I walked in the sprint store and replaced my 4 yr old phone with a newer better one for 20.00

That's on the other side of the county from me. I'm wondering if he got whacked in the head during the crash. Flipping a car does some funny things to you, even if you're not seriously injured. Or he got whacked really good and was running on adrenaline. I would hate to be that truck driver, too.

I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
He was probably still shook up a bit from the accident and just wanted to collect his belongings.
I'll tell ya from experience that on more than one occasion I have had people not care less about the $30,000 super sweet vehicle they just wrecked/rolled/whatever and were more concearned about their iPhone.
It boggles my mind but still, it happens.

There are just some things one shouldn't do, if getting mowed down by a car is to be avoided. Rooting around in the asphalt heads-down is one of them. I'm assuming he simply wanted to go. The terrible selfishness of it all is that he took others along with him down the ugly path, a bit. Funny how often that happens.
