As far as gripping it will just be with my bare hand, the water temperature is always nice out here, so I don't need a wet-suit. And when I was new to the island I learned the hard way to stay off the coral (stuff hurts), but I just throw on my gear and some board shorts usually.

Shackleton, that one looks like a pretty good deal. I'll research it a little bit more.

I know I've read before in Hawaii law that dive knives are good, I need to look that up again.

    Remember the DIR philosophy

Two is One & one is none...... try looking for small cheap knives featuring a serrated edge and a line cutter.
When I was doing stupid tech types dives 70 plus meters I generally carried Three knives, one on the leg, one on the harness of my wing, and a verknives and lights are usually the first things to get losty small one on the left thigh pocket of my dry suit.

Dont spend a lot of money as knives and lights are usually tre first things to get lost.... God knows I have left just about every possible piece of kit on the sea bed at some stage or other including cylinders, BC's and lights.

    have fun stay safe
Surrounded and outnumbered, pass me my vest!
