    Border Patrol Question . . .

. . . for any agents here. My son received a letter saying he as tentatively selected for the position of Border Patrol Agent provided he passes the medical, physical, and background checks.

So he went today for the physical, and he passed the initial fitness test today. So my question is, what's next? I believe there is an oral interview required.

Do only those who pass all of the above tests (medical/fitness/background) get an oral interview, or do all candidates get interviewed? Approximately how long from the medical/fitness test to the oral interview?

Just looking to help the kid out with what comes next.

    Thanks,

    Mike

EDIT: He has already passed the written exam and received his Notice of Results.

I can tell you one thing for certain, if your son doesn't speak fluent Spanish he will not get hired. I was turned down in 1977 for that very reason immediately after I was discharged from the army. Also, all the interviews will probably be conducted in Spanish. Maybe the requirements have changed, but I doubt it.

They are now taught Spanish at the Academy as part of the curriculum, they don't have to speak it prior to employment.
