    Lawn mowing goats going mainstream

I've been wanting to fence off my yard for a long time. I guess when it's up to me, that's what might happen.
The preceding post may contain sarcasm; it's just better that way. However, it is still intended with construction and with the Love of my L-rd Y'shua.

SIL has one as a pet, it keeps the steep slope in the back yard cleared nicely. They have a leash for it to take Cupcake for walks.

My company hired a herd of goats to clear a steep hillside at one of our power plants.

And as a by-product you get goat milk, quite tasty as well.

Really goats eat weeds more than actual grass. They also eat trees and shrubs. Sheep are better "lawnmowers"
A lot of cities ban livestock, even redneck towns like Benton. When I move out to the sticks, we will get goats.

If Ally's SIL only has one goat, it's not a happy goat. They are herd animals and do not like to be alone. Two is the preferred minimum.

I actually just talked with a lady in the city that I police about this earlier in the week. She has two small goats in her small yard. As luck would have it, it is illegal for them to be there. I didnt cite her, I thought I'd wait and see if the neighbors made an issue out of it. I personally think its pretty cool.

    True dat.
My chickens are "outlaws" as well, not them being there owning chickens is legal, but the fact that they are not a hundred feet from one of the neighbors is a small issue. The local law enforcement looks the other way as long as there aren't complaints about noise/smell/flies, etc. I did have to get rid of my rooster because he was waking the same neighbor that I have the distance issue with.....but everyone likes the hens.
Sometimes they throw veggies over the fence for them, and I don't mind as long as it means that they genuinely LIKE the birds (instead of just not complaining)

I have heard of people taking their pet goats out on a leash - and people asked what kind of dogs they were!!!!!!!!!! Maybe that lady's neighbors are thinking what weird dogs she has! ROFL
