What a strange and wonderfull world we live in

on another board that i am a member of a guy posted this
My gun addiction has resulted in me becoming the first certified welder gynecologist in the state - lol! Really funny to see the looks on the roughnecks when we all introduced ourselves the first day of class
It got me to thinking about how diverse our backgrounds are and how different we all live and make our living and yet how our " hobby (s) " put us all on a common ground .

I think this is a fine thing.

Really, think about just what the field of gynecology invloves ( other than $$ ) and which among us can state that is what we aspire to ??

Yet here the poor sucker is not only confessing to such employment , but re affirming his ( understandable to me ) desire to " better himself " and learn the skills to personalise ( instead of pimp out ) his personal firearms .

Isn't this a great world LOL

That's an odd combination, to say the least. But you're absolutely correct - the tie that binds, or somesuch!

I have shot with guys for years, and not known what they do for a living. Usually you find out, but it is seldom the important thing; they shoot! Some of the guys I shoot with work at Lawrence Livermore Lab - with them, you will never know what they do for a living!

The one I liked best was this guy who turned out to be a brain surgeon

Good shot - load of fun - and yet he was top of the skill ladder in his work too.

You never can tell - heck - I am a nuclear development engineer working on quantum transmogrifications of the outer orbital shell distortions (Sorry - it's late )

I have had the opportunity to be a soldier, sailor, bartender, prospector, tree climber and now am a Federal Inspector for navigability purposes. It’s been an interesting life and I enjoy working with a bunch of people who all have varied backgrounds (and are firearm friendly) Makes for an interesting workplace.

My IPSC instructor is a Chiropractor, hence his emphasis on form and posture.

showing up to the range in mass

I love it when me and two or 3 other guys from my shop go shooting, all of my coworkers and management at my location are prior service and we get alot of wierd looks when we roll up on the range in Tyco Electronics vans...any time were all on a weekend project we always end up at the range or a gun and kinfe show right after the jobs done. And the say theres no comradery in civilian life, well then again we are all prior service...

True about different backgrounds. The anti's always think of gun owners as 'rednecks' or 'criminals'.

I'm an office assistant. Most office assistants are anti-gun. But, I didn't start out as an office assistant. I am former Air Force, former self employed (hey, kids aren't the only ones to make money doing lawns lol ), former animal sitter/house sitter for a private individual, a worker at Burger King (for two weeks, needed the money and man do those people work hard!), Janitor and now an office assistant.

At the nearest shooting range I have met doctors, lawyers, politicians (Congressman Peter DeFazio - D is a gun person and not just for hunting), RV builders, art designers, etc..

There's one guy who is VERY prominate in the area that just bought a $25,000 Thompson from them. The only bad thing is that even though he likes firearms, he still votes Democrat and doesn't "see" the light.

    So, you never know

Well, my "home" gun club is the Goddard Gun Club from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. And all I can say is sometimes it IS rocket science!
