Hunters, or whoever uses a game cam

Hey guys I thought I might get some ideas from you guys.

I am putting a game camera up because I think deer (of all things) might be stealing my chicken food and I just want to see if I'm right. Should be fun anyway.

The area does seem to have a problem with items "sprouting legs and walking off" if you know what I mean...

If you guys use game cameras how do YOU secure them to prevent theft??

The camera that I have is a Bushnell IR cam, which they are selling at WalMart so pretty common. It has a place in the case "to put a standard padlock" so it says, but a regular "basic security" padlock's shackle is too thick to fit through the hole. Who designed that??? Eh. Hence the delimia.

Mount it high and out of reach, then angle it down.

I'm anxious to know if that's deer or 'coons.

Take a look at "Bowinkle" my brothers camera is mounted in a old tree hollow not very high up by the looks of these pics, maybe hang it from a tree, or use some kind of camo box/birdhouse ? good luck

Just bought it earlier in the week.....
That's the model number that is on the user manual. The cam itself just seems to have a serial number and a date manufactured - June 4 this year so it's not that old. The only one I see on their website is the "trophy cam" and that is not the one I have. The case to it looks a lot like this one from Tasco http://www.google.com/products/catal...0CGYQ8gIwBTgK# but the front of the cam is a bit different.

Here's a review I found on it. They mention the small lock latch.

Pretty good review I guess. I had a Moultrie cam before this one and the interface and buttons on it SUCKED majorly and it quit saving pictures on me a few days after I bought it, so the Bushnell has it beat by lightyears already IMO.
The placement of the SD card was the only thing (besides the security) that I thought seemed a bit problematic, especially for big-fingered people (not myself) -- but the fact that it came with it's own USB cable (the Moultrie one did not) and it funcitions as it's own "card reader" when connected to your computer means you can get around having to remove the card.

Rson, if you need someone to come get that menace off your property, I'll be happy to help!
