First Krav Maga class - Done

I just got home from my first Krav Maga class tonight, what a butt kicker. I will freely admit I have only been to the gym twice since my double knee surgery in Feb and I have been eating like I was invincible. I learned tonight that I am not invincible and that Krav Maga used many muscles I didn't use in TKD.

I can't wait until level 3 when I get to fight against someone with a knife or a gun.

The cool thing about this school is my TKD instructors are part owners and the Senior Instructor won't ever let me quit on myself, and he has jacked knees too so he understands if I have to take a time out.

I can also now tell you that if someone drags the hook portion of a velcro strap across your kneck as they flip you over, it hurts.

TKD Is awesome but a lot of it is showy and impractical. I love the combative nature of Krav Maga for the same reason I love JuJutsu.

    Thumbs up

Yeah, I'm jealous too. I'm not into kung-foo, but this is one that I'd sign up for in a heartbeat.

Please keep us posted about the classes. I have a Krav school near me and am seriously putting their instruction into my "tool" kit

I checked about a year ago, and it was over an hr drive one way for me...wish I had the time/money for the class. Definitely keep us updated on how things go, and how practical it is to real life.

Well, I am still sore and so are my knuckles. Good news is the Velcro burn I got that night is gone.

Barbary, if you decide to go to the school near you check and make sure they are the real deal. I have heard that since there is little known about Krav in the US it can be fairly easy to open a shop and not be an officially approved school. Check it out here, http://www.kravmaga.com/

I can't wait until Monday night for my next class.
