    Thumbs up Space Shuttle Launch

Just watched the space shuttle Discovery's successful launch.

    Awesome!

Now I'm going to the range!

Remember, the launch is just the first part of the mission!

Same here. I got up, worked out, watched the hot dog eating contest, watched the launch, and also heading to the range with hubby in tow.

Bon voyage to the crew - glad they got off OK and hope they have a great mission and safe return home.

That sure is one way to celebrate the fourth

Yes, I saw it....beautiful day for a launch.
The sky looked so doggone perfectly blue...really nice crisp camera work this time and a perfect ZOOM on up into space.

    Beautiful day in Florida.
We have a observation tower on the north end
    of Lake Okeechobee.
My wife and I go there every launch. The view was spectacular.

did anyone else get to see it fly by?

I just got to see the space shuttle/international space station fly overhead at 9:44 pm, it was cool! At 9:36 it was just passing what looked like the se corner of Washington state. It looked like a star but man was it moving! it was going in excess of 17,222 mph. I didn't even need binocs! I tried to call it on my 2 meter radio but didn't recieve a response, just heard packet radio noise, one day I will contact them up there! here is a real time program to watch where it is at:

click on the zoom+ to get a color pic!
pretty neat stuff, hope it all goes well for them!

TV can't do a launch justice. Everyone should try and see one in person. I was lucky and got to work on a Shuttle payload years ago and was at KSC for the launch. (Now all my projects go on the expendable vehicles.)

When you are there you not only see, but "feel", the launch! It's amazing.
