Skillsets & Tradecraft: A Movie
Todays dialog about DiCaprios action in the flick 'Inception' got me thinking it would be fun to have a thread featuring movies with skillsets that if it were in fact possible to learn from as _real training_ method toward the 'real world', what flicks would you choose.
First to come to my own mind is Denzel in 'The Book of Eli'.
He can shoot firearms and bows with equal adeptness. He's a close combat master of edged weapons, long blade weapons and hand to hand combat as well. Oh, and he can read Braile too.
What more would any person never mind survivalist mindset personality ever require?

The answer to that is where you boys come in.
Have at it...
"There's nothing like the life of a hollywood stuntman." - 'Hooper'
"Killers who are not deterred by laws against murder are not going to be deterred by laws against guns. " - Robert A. Levy
"A license to carry a concealed weapon does not make you a free-lance policeman." - Florida Div. of Licensing

Don Johnson-Sonny Crocket. Every time that Bren Ten came out the B.G. was shot to the ground.
Mel Gibson-Martin Riggs. If your weapon has 15 shots, use them.
Bruce Willis-John McClane. Adapt and improvise.
Clint Eastwood- Harry Callahan. Have the biggest gun you can shoot.
John Wayne- No need to say more.

The big firefight from Heat. Bounding overwatch, moving under fire, moving from cover to cover, laying down supressive fire...how women will get you killed :-)
Collateral: Douple taps from concealment, engaging targets in a crowd
Those are the only two that drop into mind right now, I'm sure there are more
"If I was an extremist, our founding fathers would all be extremists," he said. "Without them, we wouldn't have our independence. We'd be a disarmed British system of feudal subjectivity."

I learned everything I need to know from HEAT.
Thus spake the Book of HEAT:
Be dangerous, because the weapon is not enough.
Situational awareness can get you out of more trouble than automatic weapons.
Friends with automatic weapons are good to bring to a gunfight.
Body armor is your friend.
Take nothing for granted.
Always head-shoot the guy you just shot to make sure he doesn't come back after you are done with him.
Lie to your woman about what you do for a living because she really doesn't want to know anyway.
Use cover effectively, and learn how to read light and shadow.
Carry enough ammo to do the job.
Training, training and more training is the key to survival...as well as speed, suprise, stealth and patience.
Information is more important that brawn...but brawn is good too.
And the most important thing...sometimes, you should have a cup of coffee with your enemy to get to know them better.
This is the Word of The Book of HEAT for the Children of HEAT.
Follow it and get some.
