When I was a kid, my father only used Timex watches and when one stopped working, he put it in a drawer. He bought a new Timex, and it stopped working within a couple of months. He said, "That's odd, these watches have always lasted at least 2 years." (He did a lot of heavy manual labor, and beat the living caca out of the watches). I was in my very early teens (14), and I wrote Timex a letter about the one bad watch out of 7 in his drawer. I didn't ask for anything, but thought they would like to know that he was buying another Timex to replace the broken watch. Imagine his surprise when 2 weeks later he received a box from Timex with 8 new watches of all different styles! My Dad was 46 when he received those watches; when he died at 89, he was wearing a Timex.
