"What's yer name, darlin'?" isn't something that would go over too well. He could have responded with something like "Darling, Johnathan T., Yardarm Polisher First Class, Sir!"

Since boot camp I've felt bad for some guys because of their bad names. You have to have thick skin during boot camp, and especially in the infantry. And their name is on their uniform for all to see.

I went to the Academy with a 6'5'' 300lb boy named "Sue." He was a green-side corpsman before.
The preceding post may contain sarcasm; it's just better that way. However, it is still intended with construction and with the Love of my L-rd Y'shua.

When I was in boot camp, we had a guy whose parents emigrated from Germany. He really hated having to stencil Oberbarnscheidt on all of his uni's.

During my time in the Navy I was the one lucky guy that's probably in every division that was only known as "SKI". Of course being of Polish ancestory and having a last name percieved by many to have too many consonants in it to be pronounced, it was qickly shortened to the last 3 letters.
