I am somewhat of an authority on terrible movies.
Nobody can beat these two for being absolutely THE worst movies ever produced.

They are....Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes......& EraserHead

At least there is hope. Nothing made a bad movie better than MST3K. And I have had to turn a few of them off.

I caught the end of 2012 the other day. My wife was watching it. The last few minutes was too much.

For science fiction buffs “Dark Star” has to be absolutely THE WORST film ever made. To this day I still wonder how I managed to watch the whole thing.

"The Ring" never did it for me. While others in the theatre were scared, I was bored. I guess I just didn't get it...

Also, "Donkey Punch" was pretty bad too (no, I'm not trying to be funny, it's a real movie)...

Obviously, tastes differ... Eraserhead is one of my favorite movies (though it is admittedly strange, even by David Lynch standards). Napoleon Dynamite had some extremely clever and subtle moments, though it quickly became "over-popular" and any of the cleverness and originality was beaten to death.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

New idea - how about if I go rent Mr and Mrs Smith (again - love that movie) and then I'll still say that Waterworld was a bust.

Honestly I don't think I've seen Eraserhead - it just sounds icky.

Normally too many guns/shooting/explosions are a big snooze - except when handled by the Pitt/Jolie team

Hey, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Waterworld both deserve Acadamey Awards when compared to Toxic Avenger and Swamp Thing! Killer Tomatos is soooo bad that it is actually good! No one can make a movie that bad without actually trying.

The same could be said for Toxic Avenger, and many of the Troma Studios productions. TA is still their "best," though.
