Um.... You guys realize that this is not an actual practice, right? LUGGAGE may be subjected to similar treatment, but people are not. Also, the former head of security for Ben Gurion is and has been deeply involved in our own security operations for some time. He (of course) now runs a consulting company that has been hired by numerous airports/agencies... Believe it or not, the idea to look at other folks' procedures didn't originate on this forum.

Not actual practice anywhere. The Israelis do not, nor does anyone else, put PEOPLE into a "boom box" and attempt to detonate any devices they may have on them. They do a similar procedure on LUGGAGE, but not with any human beings in the "box."

    Airport Scanner Solution

This is so crazy, they might actually invent it. Could be a solution.
ANOTHER GREAT IDEA FROM AN AVERAGE JOE!
WHY AREN'T PEOPLE WITH COMMON SENSE LIKE THIS IN WASHINGTON ?

Here's a solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners at
    the airports:

All we need to do is develop a booth that you can step into that will
not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have
hidden on or in your body. The explosion will be contained within the sealed booth.

This would be a win-win for everyone. There would be none of this
crap about racial profiling and the device would eliminate long and
    expensive trials.

This is so simple that it's brilliant. I can see it now: you're in
the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly
thereafter an announcement comes over the PA system, "Attention,
standby passengers! We now have a seat available on flight number..."
If you understand, things are just as they are... If you do not understand, things are just as they are....

The Gen 1 system might require a few more skilled TSA agents for cleanup. An improved system could be designed with an automatic flushing system similar to that of the commode on a plane. It could even spray some air freshener at the end of the cycle.

So would you put them in the smoking or non-smoking section of the terminal?

Nah, it would be a lot easier and more sanitary to just make the box an incinerator.
