I don't know, the "glitz" of a new production is tempting. Gotta say, one heckuva trailer.

Where's the Winchester though? That's dissappointing!

Who in their right mind wakes up one day and thinks "I'd make a better Rooster Cogburn than John Wayne"?

Remakes are fine for me. Hollywood ran out of ideas years ago.

Based on his role as Bad Blake in Crazy Heart, I can see Bridges pulling this off, especially with the Coen Brothers making the movie (No Country for Old Men and others). I'm actually looking forward to it. Just because I really liked the earlier movie with John Wayne doesn't mean I can't like this one--they're not mutually exclusive. As a rule, the only movies I will not go see are made by Michael Moore and Oliver Stone. If you don't see movies with anti's starring in them, that will narrow the list down to about 6 per year you'll be allowed to watch.

All I know is that no one has ever portrayed Doc Holiday better than Val Kilmer in Tombstone.

Sacrilege. There are some things you just don't do in America, and one of them is reprise a John Wayne role.

    It's just not done.
LOL, I said the exact same thing to my wife when I saw the ad for it.

There ought to be some kind of a law against anti's like Ahhhnold Swartzenagger, jeff Bridges and all the rest of those bleeding heart liberals from making a living pretending to be something they're not. Oh, wait a minute, that's what acting is all about. Never mind!

Actually they are remaking the Wizard of Oz, they haven't started casting it yet. I don't think this release of True Grit is a remake of John Waynes. From what I've been able to gather the original movie deviated quite a bit from the novel it was based on. This movie is said to be truer to the book, thus it's not actually a remake. I've never read the book so I can't say one way or the other.

The original had quite a bit of comedy and good natured humor in it. With the Coen Brothers involved, I would think that this version will be more serious and darker in nature.
