Iran Cancels Stoning of Woman for Adultry, Orders Her Hanged for Murder Instead
Iranian authorities have announced that they have cancelled their controversial plans to execute a woman named Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani for adultery by the ancient means of stoning to death. This barbaric sentence has brought International condemnation from around the world against Iran.
However, in their press announcement, Iranian officials declared that Ashtiani has now confessed to murder, and thus will now be hanged instead.
She has been allowed a final visit with her son, before her execution. Here is a publicity photo taken by the Iranian government during her visit with him, to show that she is being treated with compassion:

So you see, it turns out that the Iranians are reasonable folks after all, and will no longer slowly kill her through stoning for the crime of adultery.
However, some concerns have been expressed, that there is a possibility that Ashtiani's alleged confession could possibly have been coerced through torture. Previously, government prosecutors had not bothered to seek murder charges against her, saying that only her boyfriend was responsible.

Nothing about the Iranian government is "civilized". Their adherence to Sharia Law and radial Islamic policy proves it time and time again.
Do they think that hanging is more compassionate a method of execution for a crime she may never have committed in the first place? They keep regressing daily.
I feel pity for the plain old Iranian people. They do not have a choice in how they wish to believe, that is done for them by the government.

Torture... Coercion? Like the Iranians would ever sink to those lows in order to get a "confession"...

The more you learn about sharia law and they way Iran interprets it, nothing is a surprise. Sharia forbids the execution of virgins. Iran's solution to this little problem is not to lessen the sentence but to have a soldier rape the convict.
