Interesting story and a nice plug for the State...

I'm sure they'll finally get some idiot to pardon him. Of course when that happens, I hope someone files murder charges for the 2 guards he killed during his escape.

This whole thing was a colossal waist of time and energy, much like our outgoing Gov. Charlie Crist's pardon of Jim Morrison here in Florida.

Gov. Richardson is leaving amid much criticism of his administration. He did support CCW legislation and is a CCW licensee himself. However, the pardon for an infamous killer was just another ploy to keep his name in the spotlight. Better he should pardon the law abidding citizens that were recently prosecuted for lawfully defending their lives and property wiht a firearm.

Yes, this is Gov Bill Richardson of NM. I'm not sure why the OP referred to him as "Texas gunfighter", unless you believe that William H. McCarty died of old age as Brushy Bill Roberts in Hico, Tx. Nothing in McCarty's history (that I saw in a quick search) shows that he spent a substantial amount of time in the Lone Star State.
As sigs said, this is a colossal waste of time--he's dead. On the bright side, if politicians are spending their time obsessing over the dead, that's less time they're stripping us of our rights.

Kinda like the Pope finally pardoning Galileo about 400 years after the Inquisition condemned and imprisoned him 1633.
