Picked up a few westerns on DVD today.

Took my wife's car to gas it up today and decided to check out Wally World for ammo availability and also to check out the $5 DVD's.

    Picked up
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, (probably my favorite John Wayne movie, plus Lee Marvin and Jimmy Stewart).

Wyatt Earp, (already have Tombstone and I like both movies).

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Bob Ford (seen bits and pieces on AMC but not the whole film and thought for $5 what the heck, plus it's uncut)

    Dang, I forgot the nachos.

I've been on a classic westerns kick lately. Just a great way to spend a couple of hours...

I've seen all of the ones you picked up. Nice selection.

I've picked up a lot of the old TV Westerns at Cracker Barrel. Good way to spend a day when it's miserable outside.

I have cable TV with hundreds of channels, but there is nothing new on TV that I want to watch. I found myself watching the western channel every night, old B&W Gunsmoke, with Burt Reynolds as a regular. Almost as good as the B&W Mayberry shows.

I buy westerns every time I go to walmart...

I agree on the John Wayne movie, it is also probably my favorite, with Alamo coming in a close second:)

I love wyatt earp.... However I did not care for the Jesse James movie...

The Gunsmokes with Dennis Weaver were also good, switch to Andy Griffith with Gomer telling Goober,"walk like Chester".

"The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" has to be, IMHO, the best Western ever!

Try The Quick and The Dead, (with Sam Elliot not the Sharon Stone stinker). Also anything with Tom Selleck.

THe Magnificent Seven gets my vote. Such a collection of stars in one movie.

The Wild Bunch, Magnificent Seven, Tombstone are all favorites. I also like "Once upon a time in the West" with Charles Bronson.

I thought the newer 3:10 to Yuma was pretty good, as was Open Range.
