Kids Find a Loaded NAA Mini Revolver, and Believe that it is a Toy

Some kids found a discarded loaded NAA Mini Revolver, and thought that it was a toy to play with!

Fortunately, none of the four children were harmed in the incident, including the 7 yr old that inititally found it. Two 12 year olds later played with the gun for a couple of hours, but then thought that it was broken, as they "could not get it to work".

Finally, they showed it to their horrified mother, a teacher at the local school district. The older children said that they knew about the dangers of guns, but thought the revolver was way too small to be a real gun.

Edmonds police hope parents will learn from this and teach kids to never touch any gun.

"Stop, stay away, don't touch it and tell an adult," Anderson said.
Not only should parents teach kids about guns but this is something that should be taught in every school district in the US. Education will reduce many of the so-called accidental shootings that happen every year.

But honestly, though, does the NAA Mini Revolver look like it is a real gun? I think that was part of the problem here.

When in doubt, DON'T TOUCH, and go find an adult to deal with it. Very simple training. There are no toy guns, and never touch anything that looks like a gun.
Never had any problems with my kids after teaching this.

I've showed my grandkids some of the smallest guns, plus the ammo they take, and their response was "that's a real gun ? " . YES >>> IT IS ! !
Now, they are "up" on guns and models, types, styles, etc. to the point I don't think they would assume anything.

That was not at all true when I was growing up as a young boy back in the '50's. I had all kinds of toy guns.
